These intaglios were made in the 1940's-50's are brand new/never used, manufacturer's new old stock.Crafted from a very old, antique crystal intaglios, these large 30mm x 22mm ( 1 5/8" x 1") cabochons feature an Asian RICKSHAW driver, dressed in his traditional working garb as he hurries to look for his next fare. An intaglio is a reverse cameo where the carving is done on the underside of the crystal. When looking at the top or front of the crystal, the image is in a 3-dimensional form. This type of jewelry art work was very popular between the 1920's-1950's which makes these pieces as these very unique, valuable and sought-after by vintage jewelry collectors. The crystal intaglio is done on a black background with the carved driver done in gold.
