This red and blue 8 inch glass bead necklace was made in Czechoslovakia in the early 1900's. The red beads are diamond shaped and translucent, the blue beads are opaque. It was bought to throw in parades during Mardi Gras in New Orleans. This necklace has never been worn or thrown, it is part of a larger collection from a New Orleans native. They were never thrown because parades changed to less expensive plastic throws and the collection has been stored ever since.
